Who We Are

About Rishikesh Sadan

A sanctuary of authentic yogic learning rooted in tradition,
guided by compassion, and transformed by practice.

Our Story

Born from the Sacred Banks of the Ganges

"Rishikesh Sadan began as a dream — to create a space where seekers from across the world could experience the living tradition of yoga as it was always meant to be."

Founded in the spiritual heartland of Rishikesh, our ashram grew from years of dedicated practice and deep reverence for the ancient yogic sciences. We are not a modern yoga studio — we are a traditional ashram, where every morning begins before sunrise and every evening ends in the sacred glow of the Ganga Aarti.

Over 15 years, hundreds of students from over 40 countries have walked through our gates. Many arrive carrying the weight of the world. They leave lighter, clearer, and more alive — transformed by the discipline of practice and the grace of this sacred land.

What We Stand For

Our Core Values

Every decision we make at Rishikesh Sadan flows from these principles — they are not rules, but ways of being.

🌿

Sattvic Purity

We maintain a pure, sattvic environment — wholesome food, no intoxicants, no distractions. The clarity of the environment directly supports the clarity of the mind.

📿

Authentic Lineage

Our teachings are rooted in the classical yogic texts — Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, the Bhagavad Gita, and Hatha Yoga Pradipika. We transmit living wisdom, not just technique.

🙏

Seva & Compassion

Service is at the heart of our practice. We believe that a yoga practitioner's deepest practice is how they show up for the world — with presence, humility, and love.

🔥

Tapas (Discipline)

Transformation requires consistent effort. We honour the ancient practice of tapas — showing up every day, before sunrise, in the heat and the cold, again and again.

🌍

Global Community

Though rooted in Rishikesh, our family spans every continent. We celebrate the diversity of our students while holding the universal thread of yogic wisdom.

🌱

Sustainable Living

We are stewards of this sacred land. Our practices are minimal-impact, our food is local, and our commitment to the Himalayan environment is woven into everything we do.

Our Responsibility

Caring for Sacred Land

The Himalayas and the Ganges sustain us. We take our responsibility to protect and serve this sacred environment deeply seriously.

🌳

Tree Plantation Drive

For every student who graduates, we plant a tree in the Himalayan foothills. Over 500 trees planted to date — a living forest of alumni.

🌊

Ganga Seva

Monthly Ganga clean-up drives involving students and local community members. We honour the river that sustains our practice.

🌱

Zero-Waste Kitchen

Our kitchen composts all food waste, sources produce locally, uses no single-use plastics, and runs on solar-supplemented energy.

🏫

Community Education

Free weekly yoga classes for local children and underprivileged women — because the benefits of practice should not be gated by income.

♻️

Plastic-Free Campus

The ashram is entirely plastic-free. We provide stainless steel water bottles, bamboo utensils, and reusable bags to every student upon arrival.

🤝

Local Partnerships

We source all food, materials, and services from local Rishikesh families and cooperatives — keeping our economic footprint rooted in the community.
